The Scotch Whisky Action Fund supports initiatives across the country

Projects across Scotland which fight alcohol misuse have received funding from whisky bosses.

The fourth round of the Scotch Whisky Action Fund is set to benefit 14 organisations.

The fund – operated by the Scotch Whisky Association – supports and develops a range of initiatives that deliver targeted interventions to tackle alcohol-related harm amongst young people, families and communities.

It is managed by Foundation Scotland, an independent charity, with 37 awards made since the fund was launched in 2013.

Initiatives that have been successful in their bid for funding include youth projects run by football clubs Hibernian and Motherwell, and an art therapy project for families.

Karen Betts, Scotch Whisky Association chief executive, said: “We’re committed to tackling alcohol misuse and our action fund is an example of our work in this area.

“We’re pleased that have been able to make 37 awards since we launched the fund in 2013. It’s particularly encouraging to see such a diverse range of projects being awarded this year, from those working with young people in schools to those working with carers.”

The fund is open for new applications until 29 June.
