Is a year a tough enough jail sentence for animal abuse?

This poll is over 6 years old

The recent sentencing of Zara Brown to seven months jail time for horrendously abusing eight dogs at Ayrshire Ark has led to fresh calls for tougher sentencing for animal abuse. Battersea Cat & Dog Home has called for all Scottish politicians to back its bid to extend maximum sentences to five years in keeping with many other countries. What do you think? Are animal abuse sentences already tough enough? Do people deserve to spend more than a year in jail for mistreating animals. Please respond to our poll and leave a comment.
