Protests are taking place against the state visit of US president Donald Trump.

There has been debate about whether he should have been accorded full state honours – including meeting the Queen at a lavish banquet.

Rather than meet him, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has chosen to address protestors instead.

Trump has been accused or racism and misogyny and of normalising far right views.

The resources spent on entertaining the POTUS should’ve been used to bring all possible D-Day participants (from all sides) to the commemoration, avoiding any triumphalism. The sights of re-enactment enthusiasts on the beaches were particularly unnecessary and distasteful.
