Charities that work with older people are reporting an upsurge in social isolation amongst the elderly.

Age Scotland has found that 60,000 Scots will only have their television for comfort on Christmas Day.

The charity has chosen to focus on social isolation for its Christmas Appeal, one aspect of which is asking supporters to give up their time rather than money to held the elderly this Christmas.

So we are asking: would you take the time to share a mince pie with an older person this Christmas?
