Amazon shoppers are being urged to buy Christmas gifts for Scotland’s homeless people.

The initiative, from leading homelessness charity Simon Community Scotland, invites customers to pick one of a range of gifts from an Amazon wishlist which can then be handed on to those in need.

Gifts include insulated jackets, sleeping bags, foam mats, underwear and sanitary products.

They were chosen by Simon Community Scotland staff, who say the wishlist makes it easier than ever for members of the public to support those sleeping rough over the festive period.

Lorraine McGrath, the charity’s chief executive, said: “We are asked frequently by members of the public what they can do to help and, in creating this campaign, we wanted to make it easy and impactful for people to get involved.

“We have gifts for all budgets, and, no matter what people can spare at this time of year, we are incredibly grateful.”

A similar exercise last year resulted in over £15,000 worth of goods being donated. This year’s campaign, called 12 Days of Giving, is supported by well-known names such as Iain de Caestecher, Gina McKie, Kevin Guthrie, Tam Cowan, Moray Hunter and Sanjeev Kohli.

Why don't you put an address in where we can send the gifts? seems ridiculous not to!
