The Edinburgh Furniture Initiative is seeking urgent donations after stock was damaged during flooding last week

An Edinburgh homeless charity has launched an appeal for donations after being struck by flooding.

The Edinburgh Furniture Initiative in Canonmills is operated by Four Square, selling affordable second hand furniture to help raise funds to fight homelessness.

However the large furniture store in Logie Green Road was affected by flooding in the city last week, with the charity looking for donations to boost its stock.

Four Square tweeted: "We’ve been flooded at Edinburgh Furniture Initiative on Logie Green Road.

"Please think of us if you’re getting rid of furniture and electrical goods.

"We’ve lost some stock to the flood and urgently need donations."

The charity requires large items of furniture for all rooms, kitchen appliances and small electrical appliances. It offers free uplift within Edinburgh, and for more information phone 0131 557 7900.
