Replaces interim CEO and will take the post this month

Education charity Seamab has announced Stuart Provan as its new chief executive.

Provan takes up the post on 13 July and will replace Karen Moore who was acting up in the interim.

Seamab care for and educates children from across Scotland. Many have experienced significant trauma in their early childhood, all have complex needs that are unable to be met in a mainstream setting.

Provan brings expertise from across a broad range of social care settings, with significant experience of working and leading within residential school settings, including Head of Care and his current position as CEO at Ochil Tower School in Auchterarder.

He said: “I am passionate about ensuring children with complex needs are given every chance of a positive future. I am delighted to be joining the organisation to build on the fantastic work being delivered by the team. I very much look forward to working with the trustees, staff and children to ensure we do even more for the young people at Seamab. I have for a long time followed Seamab and their progress, I am very pleased to now be part of the team.”

Chair Chris Stuart added: “We look forward to Stuart working with the team to build on the strong foundation we have at Seamab. Stuart’s love of the outdoors combined with his interest in social pedagogical models of care and education are a perfect fit for the fantastic work we do here at Seamab.

"While Stuart is joining us in the challenging times of a global pandemic I look forward to working together to deliver an environment that gives children the hope of a positive future.”
