Keep Scotland Beautiful and Girlguiding Scotland launch new badge
An army of 50,000 girls are being challenged to help clean up Scotland and have a positive impact on its environment.
Keep Scotland Beautiful has teamed up with Girlguiding Scotland and challenged its members to protect the environment.
The environmental charity is calling on girls to complete a range of activities to earn a new challenge badge. These include organising a community clean-up to holding an eco-friendly picnic, blogging about environmental issues to writing to their MSP.
They will learn new skills and make a positive difference to their communities
Derek Robertson, chief executive of Keep Scotland Beautiful, said: “We are delighted to be launching the Keep Scotland Beautiful Challenge badge with Girlguiding Scotland.
“Together we believe that by encouraging girls and young women to tackle local and global environmental issues they will learn new skills and make a positive difference to their communities.”
“We look forward to hearing how the first Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section who take up the challenge and earn the badge get on!”
Sue Walker, Girlguiding Scotland’s chief commissioner, added: “We are very excited to be working in partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful to encourage our members to tackle environmental issues at a local and global level.
“I hope as many girls as possible will get involved in this challenge and show just how big an impact Girlguiding Scotland members can have on their environment - in their local communities and beyond.”
