Economist is new trustee at debt charity

She is also chair of the Charities Aid Foundation Bank

StepChange Debt Charity has announced the appointment of Janet Pope as a trustee.

The appointment follows a comprehensive and extensive search process to find new expertise to support the future direction and strategy of the charity and completes the process of recruiting four new trustees for the charity throughout 2023.

Janet is an economist and retail banking expert with extensive non-executive experience in government departments, charities and the private sector.

She is chair of the Charities Aid Foundation Bank, trustee of the Charities Aid Foundation and trustee of Camden School for Girls.

Janet said: “I'm honoured to have been invited to join the country’s leading debt advice charity as a trustee. It’s a critical time, both for the people StepChange supports, and for the debt advice industry as a whole. I look forward to lending my experience to the strategy, governance and oversight of the charity.”

John Griffith-Jones, chair of StepChange of Debt Charity, added: “I am delighted to welcome Janet as a trustee. Her appointment will bring important insight from the financial services world, which will be vital as StepChange looks to support its clients struggling with their finances whilst also widening and deepening our already excellent relationships and partnerships across the financial services sector.”
