Emily Berry, partnership manager at Utility Aid, talks about the support it is providing to village and community halls across the country, and how it helps organisations on their net zero journey
Utility Aid has been working with SCVO for five years and has been supporting its members with their energy needs and advising on all things net zero.
Currently, we are working with over 310 SCVO customers and have managed to retrieve more than £445,000 from overspending on their energy bills. We are thrilled to be supporting the village and community halls conference where we will be participating in a workshop while exhibiting. During this time we will be on hand to offer support and answer any questions you may have.
Our work with village and community halls
What sets us apart is our partnership work. We believe the relationships we have built with our partners are our greatest asset as it allows us to deepen our understanding of the challenges the sector faces. From this, we have been able to develop services and influence changes with suppliers to accommodate the needs of the third sector.
We have worked closely with Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) for several years and have recently been heavily involved in its Village Halls Week where we were a sponsor and also supported the development of its Village & Community Halls: A Net Zero Design Guide.
This collaborative relationship has meant that we gained the trust of 406 village halls and community buildings across England and supported them with their procurement needs whilst advising them on their journey to net zero.
The support we can offer your hall
From a survey we conducted with ACRE, we discovered that the sector is eager to make its buildings more energy efficient but is often at a loss where to start and does not often have the funds available for a face-to-face energy audit. This inspired us to create our Remote Discovery Document, which is a remote energy audit on your building.
The Remote Discovery Document is a cost-effective report that allows organisations to make educated decisions on the implementation of energy-efficient measures that can help reduce energy consumption. The document will include the impact all tried and tested technology/ measures will have on energy consumption, the potential cost to install, and the expected return on investment. Utility Aid will offer this service to SCVO members at a reduced cost starting from £195 + VAT.
