Care provider Capability Scotland has appointed the leader of a supported living provider as its new boss.

Brian Logan, who has been chief executive at Bield for the last nine years, will replace Dana O’Dwyer, who is retiring after eight years.

In her time at Capability Scotland, Dana led on the modernisation and development of services, ensuring that the organisation continually adapted in response to changes in the needs of service users.

Capability Scotland Chair, Professor Sandy Cameron CBE, said: “Dana has been fantastic in the role and has helped us evolve as an organisation since her appointment in 2011.

“Her dedication to the role was evident from the outset and she has helped us drive the organisation forward in a productive and responsive way.

“We’re very sorry to see Dana go but I’m sure that Brian will come to the role with the same dynamism and a genuine interest in the sector.”

As Dana’s successor, Brian will work with the teams across Capability’s centres to help the organisation continue to provide high quality care and support for children and adults living with disabilities.

Brian said: “I am honoured to take on the role of chief executive and I have already been inspired by stories of how Capability Scotland has changed lives for individuals and families across central Scotland.

“Leaving Bield has not been an easy decision for me to make but this is a rare and excellent opportunity for me to make a contribution to another sector and one which I am genuinely enthusiastic about.

“Dana was fantastic in the role and I’m looking forward to working with the team to drive the organisation’s strategy forward.”

Brian was director of financial services at Bield for five years before taking on the role of chief executive nine years ago.

He is currently a board member at East Lothian Housing Association, trustee of Community Integrated Care, and a board member at Reside Housing Association.
